ICC Rankings: Babar Azam of PAK continues to excel, becomes number 1 in ICC rankings

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has become the number-1 batsman in the latest ICC T20 rankings. Babar has overtaken England batsman David Malan. Indian captain Virat Kohli remains at number five and KL Rahul at number eight.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has become the number-1 batsman in the latest ICC T20 rankings. Babar has overtaken England batsman David Malan. Indian captain Virat Kohli remains at number five and KL Rahul at number eight. At the same time, Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga, who was performing brilliantly in the T20 World Cup, became the world's number-1 bowler in T20.

Babar Azam has reached the top of the T20 rankings for the first time since January 2018. Babar, who was second in last week's rankings, has gained 14 points. Babar now has a total of 834 rating points. On the other hand, David Malan is now at the second position with 798 rating points.

The Pakistani team has made a place in the semi-finals by performing brilliantly in the current World Cup. Babar Azam has played an important role in this team's journey. Babar Azam has so far scored 198 runs in four innings at an average of 66 and a strike rate of 124.52.

England's wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler has gained a lot in the batting rankings. Butler has now moved up eight places to the ninth position. Butler is the highest run-scorer in this T20 World Cup so far with the help of 214 runs. Australian captain Aaron Finch has also moved up three places (733 points) to the third position.

Apart from this, Jason Roy (up to five places to 14th), David Miller (up to six places to 33rd), and South African skipper Temba Bavuma (up 35 places to be 52nd) by a jump of six places.

Change has been seen at the top in T20 bowling rankings. Wanindu Hasaranga has overtaken South African chinaman bowler Tabrez Shamsi. Hasaranga, who took 14 wickets for Sri Lanka in this T20 World Cup so far at an economy rate of 5.26, also took a hat-trick against South Africa.

In the bowling rankings, South Africa's Enrique Norkia (up 18 places to 7th), his compatriot Dwayne Pretorius (up 65 places to 34th), and Shariful Islam of Bangladesh have jumped 77 places to 38th.
