The Indian team has been announced for the Test match series starting against New Zealand. Ajinkya Rahane will captain the Indian team in the first test match. Regular skipper Virat Kohli will join the squad for the second Test and lead the team. The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) announced the team by issuing a press release on Friday.

The special thing is that Rohit Sharma, who is going to captain the Indian team in the T20 series, is not a part of this Test series. Apart from Rohit, key fast bowlers, especially Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Shardul Thakur have been rested from both the Test matches. Apart from this, wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant has been kept out of the Test series to get rid of bio- bubble fatigue.

Apart from the first Test, Virat Kohli will not be with the team in the T20 series as well. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the tour of South Africa. Now with Rahane becoming the captain, the burden of vice-captaincy in the first Test will be on Cheteshwar Pujara's shoulders.

It is worth noting that immediately after the T20 World Cup, the New Zealand team will be in India. Here he has to play three T20 and two Test matches. Two Tests are to be played in Kanpur and Mumbai.
