In 2007, Sanjay Kapoor of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Nagendra Singh of SP was elected members of the assembly from the Pratapgarh Sadar assembly seat in 2012. In 2012, Nagendra of SP defeated Sanjay Kapoor of BSP.

Mandate of 2017

Apna Dal Sonelal, the party of BJP's alliance partner Anupriya Patel, fielded a candidate from the Pratapgarh Sadar assembly seat in the 2017 elections.
