PF interest rate FY22: The next meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is going to be held on November 20. For the last two years, 8.5% interest is being given by EPFO to the account holders. This is the lowest interest rate in the last eight years.

The next meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is going to be held on November 20. In this meeting, it can be considered that how much interest should be given to the PF account holders in this financial year i.e. 2021-22.

It is worth noting that for the last two years, 8.5% interest is being given by EPFO to the account holders. This is the lowest interest rate in the last eight years, but there is only a sign of the Finance Ministry keeping the interest rate low. These days interest is getting very less on all other savings rates as well. Prior to this, in the year 2018-19, the interest rate of PF was 8.65%.

Which funds will be invested in

According to a report in the Indian Express, in this meeting of EPFO, it can also be decided in which alternative funds like Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InviTs) should be invested in PF account holders.

In April this year, the Ministry of Labor had issued a notification of changes in investment options, according to which it has been asked to invest in AIFs issued under Category I and Category II, which are regulated by SEBI.

According to the exemption given by the Central Government, EPFO can invest about 15 percent of the fund of PF account holders in equity i.e. shares. According to the report, till June 30 this year, EPFO has invested about Rs 7,715 crore in the stock market.
