BIG Breaking NEWS (24.08.2024) In a significant operation, the Pune Rural Police have seized a large consignment of cannabis valued at ₹56.92 lakh, thanks to the diligent efforts of the Kamshet Police Station team. The operation, led by Police Inspector Ravindra Patil, was carried out on the morning of August 22, 2024, based on a tip-off from a reliable informant.

The Operation

Inspector Patil received information that four individuals were transporting a large quantity of cannabis through the Taje village area in a silver Verna car, traveling from the old highway road toward Lonavala. Acting swiftly, Inspector Patil informed his superiors and, under the guidance of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Lonavala, two teams were assembled to set up a strategic checkpoint.

At the designated location, the officers spotted the suspected vehicle, a Verna car bearing the registration number MH-14-GY-0550. Following instructions, the police teams, with the presence of witnesses, stopped the car and conducted a thorough search. Upon inspecting the trunk, they discovered a total of 98 kilograms of cannabis, an illegal narcotic substance.

Arrests and Seizure

The police apprehended the four individuals traveling in the car:

  1. Abhishek Anil Nagawade, 24
  2. Pradeep Narayan Namdas, 25
  3. Yogesh Ramesh Lagad, 32
  4. Vaibhav Sanjivan Chede, 23

All are residents of Kardegaon near the PMT Stop, Marathi School, Shirur Taluka, Pune. The seized items include 98 kilograms of cannabis valued at ₹48.50 lakh, the Verna car worth ₹8 lakh, and three mobile handsets worth ₹42,000. The total value of the seized items is ₹56.92 lakh.

Legal Action and Investigation

Following the seizure, a case has been registered at the Kamshet Police Station under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, including Sections 8(c) and 20(c). The investigation is being conducted by Inspector Ravindra Patil, who is diligently pursuing the case.
