RTI Exposes Shocking Revelations: Navi Mumbai Police Stations Allegedly Collude with Land Mafia

A recent revelation through the Right to Information (RTI) Act has uncovered alarming details that raise questions about the transparency and accountability of certain police stations in Navi Mumbai. Thanks to the diligent efforts of Nerul Police Station, it has become clear how three other police stations—Koparkhairane, Rabale, and Rabale MIDC—are not only tarnishing the reputation of the Navi Mumbai Police but also appear to be in collusion with powerful land mafias.

These land mafias are reportedly encroaching on government land worth thousands of crores and constructing illegal multi-storey buildings, thereby defrauding hundreds of unsuspecting citizens to the tune of crores.

RTI Request and Shocking Discrepancies

In an effort to uncover the truth, I had filed an RTI request with four police stations under the Navi Mumbai Commissionerate, seeking the same set of information regarding the illegal activities. However, while Koparkhairane, Rabale, and Rabale MIDC police stations denied having any records, claiming the information was unavailable in their registers, Nerul Police Station provided full disclosure of the requested details. This stark contrast raises serious concerns.

It is highly improbable that identical cases being handled by different police stations could result in such vastly different responses. If Nerul Police Station had the records, how could the other three stations not? This suggests a deliberate attempt by these police stations to withhold information, which in turn indicates their possible alignment with the land mafias who are engaging in large-scale illegal land encroachments and construction.

Call for Action from Navi Mumbai Police Leadership

Through this public platform, I urge Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 1, Pankaj Dahane, to initiate departmental action against the Information Officers of these three police stations—Koparkhairane, Rabale, and Rabale MIDC. Not only should these officers face consequences for withholding critical information under the RTI Act, but they should also be investigated for their alleged indirect involvement with the land mafia.

Until this departmental inquiry is completed, it is crucial that these officers be removed from any key responsibilities to ensure the integrity of the ongoing investigations.

Nerul Police Station’s transparency is commendable, and it stands as a reminder of the need for all law enforcement agencies to uphold the values of accountability and public trust. I am sharing documented proof of the information I received from Nerul Police, which starkly contrasts with the false claims made by the other police stations.

This is a matter of public interest, and urgent action is required to restore the faith of the people in the law enforcement system of Navi Mumbai.
