Significantly, Morgan's recent form has been a matter of debate as the English captain scored just 133 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at an average of 11.08. However, under his captaincy, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) traveled to the final of this season.
Eoin Morgan told the BBC, 'It's always an option. I am not going to stand in the way of the team winning the World Cup. My bat is not getting runs, but my captaincy has been very good. I have always managed these two things separately and treated them as two separate challenges.
Morgan said, "Obviously not being a bowler, being a bit old and not contributing on the field, I love taking the responsibility of captaincy. As far as my batting is concerned, I think I would not have stood here if I had not come out of poor form. Such is the nature of T20 cricket and especially where I go to bat, I have to take risks. I move ahead while confronting such things.
It is worth noting that Morgan won the 50-over World Cup title for England in 2019 under his captaincy. Also, under his captaincy, England reached the final of the last T20 World Cup held on Indian soil. Morgan was rested in his first warm-up match against India on Monday.
In that match against India, Jos Buttler took over the command of the English team. However, India defeated England by 7 wickets in the match.
