अपनी सोलर आयरनिंग कार्ट से दुनिया को प्रेरित करने वाली एक नवप्रवर्तक छात्रा इस समय चल रही 16वीं आधिकारिक क्वीन्स बैटन रिले के लिए भारत की बैटन बियरर है

पर्यावरणविद् बन चुकी तमिलनाडु के तिरुवन्मलाई जिले की एक नवप्रवर्तक छात्रा सुश्री विनीशा उमाशंकर को भारत में कल से चल रही 16वीं आधिकारिक क्वीन्स बैटन रिले (12 - 15 जनवरी 2022) के लिए "परिवर्तनंकारी (चेंजमेकर)" तथा बैटन धारक के रूप में चुना गया है। युवा नवप्रवर्तक और पर्यावरणविद सुश्री विनीशा कई लोगों के लिए एक प्रेरणा रही हैं, और वह एक बैटन-बेयरर के रूप में चुने जाने के लिए एक उपयुक्त पात्र भी हैं ।

16वीं आधिकारिक क्वीन्स बैटन रिले 7 अक्टूबर, 2021 को लंदन के बकिंघम पैलेस में शुरू हुई और 294 दिनों के लिए राष्ट्रमंडल के 72 देशों और क्षेत्रों की यात्रा के बाद बर्मिंघम 2022 राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के उद्घाटन समारोह में 28 जुलाई, 2022 को इसका समापन होगा। इस अवधि के लिए निर्धारित मार्ग में आने वाले 27वें राष्ट्र, भारत में इस बैटन के आगमन के साथ  क्वीन्स बैटन रिले 12 से 15 जनवरी, 2022 तक यह क्वीन्स बैटन रिले भारत में चलती रहेगी।

सुश्री विनीशा उमाशंकर ने अपनी उस मोबाइल सोलर आयरनिंग कार्ट के लिए भारत सरकार के विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग के एक स्वायत्त निकाय, नेशनल इनोवेशन फाउंडेशन (एनआईएफ) भारत द्वारा स्थापित डॉ. एपीजे अब्दुल कलाम इग्नाइट (आईजीएनआईटीई) पुरस्कार प्राप्त किया, जो अपने भाप चालित आयरन बॉक्स के लिए सौर पैनलों का उपयोग करता हैI ग्लासगो, स्कॉटलैंड में 2021 में जलवायु परिवर्तन पर 26वे संयुक्त राष्ट्र जलवायु परिवर्तन सम्मेलन में उनके भाषण के बाद यह नवाचार दुनिया के लिए एक प्रेरणा बन गया है।

सुश्री विनीशा की आज की सफलता संस्थागत समर्थन तंत्र और नवोन्मेषकों के लिए एक अनुकूल पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र के महत्व को दर्शाती है। पुरस्कार प्रदान करने के बाद, नेशनल इनोवेशन फाउंडेशन (एनआईएफ) ने विनीशा के नवाचार के लिए प्रोटोटाइप विकास और बौद्धिक संपदा अधिकार (आईपीआर) संरक्षण को आगे बढाने में बहुत महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी। एनआईएफ इंडियन नेशनल एकेडमी ऑफ इंजीनियरिंग (आईएनएई) के साथ साझेदारी में अपने नवाचार के प्रौद्योगिकी तैयारी स्तर (टीआरएल) में सुधार के लिए भी प्रतिबद्ध है ।

विनीशा की सोलर आयरनिंग कार्ट का एक प्रमुख लाभ यह है कि यह स्वच्छ ऊर्जा की ओर एक स्वागत योग्य बदलाव लाने के लिए इसकी इस्त्री में कोयले की आवश्यकता को समाप्त कर देती है। इसके वास्तविक उपयोगकर्ता (एंड-यूजर्स) अपनी दैनिक कमाई बढ़ाने के लिए इसे लेकर  इधर-उधर जा सकते हैं और घर-घर जा कर अपनी सेवाएं दे सकते हैं। इस्त्री कार्ट में यूएसबी चार्जिंग पॉइंट और मोबाइल रिचार्जिंग के साथ एक सिक्का संचालित जीएसएम पीसीओ भी लगाया जा सकता है, जिससे अतिरिक्त आय प्राप्त हो सकती है। कपड़ों पर इस्त्री करने के लिए परम्परागत लोहे की इस्त्री में लकड़ी का कोयला जला कर चल रही लाखों गाड़ियों के लिए यह सौर ऊर्जा से चलने वाला एक सरल विकल्प है और इससे श्रमिकों और उनके परिवारों को लाभ हो सकता है। इस उपकरण को सूरज की रोशनी के न होने की स्थिति में पहले से चार्ज की हुई  (प्री-चार्ज) बैटरी तथा बिजली या डीजल से चलने वाले जनरेटर से भी संचालित किया जा सकता है।

विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी और नवाचार आधारित समाधानों के माध्यम से वैश्विक जलवायु परिवर्तन की समस्या को हल करने के लिए भारत प्रतिबद्ध है। यह विनीशा जैसे नवप्रवर्तकों की अगली पीढ़ी है उनकी वैज्ञानिक सोच, सामाजिक फोकस और संस्थागत समर्थन तंत्र के आधार पर जो देश को एक मजबूत आशा बंधाती हैं कि "कल आज से बेहतर हो सकता है" जैसे कि अभी भारत में एनआईएफ द्वारा प्रदर्शित किया गया है, और सम्भव है कि दुनिया के अन्य हिस्सों में इस नवाचार को दोहराया जाए।

सुश्री विनीशा उमाशंकर को "सोलर आयरनिंग कार्ट" के लिए राष्ट्रीय नवप्रवर्तन प्रतिष्ठान ( नेशनल इनोवेशन फाउंडेशन – एनआईएफ ) के इग्नाइट 2019 पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था और बाद में उन्हें प्रोटोटाइप विकास, प्रौद्योगिकी तत्परता स्तर ( टीआरएल ) उन्नयन और बौद्धिक संपदा अधिकार ( आईपीआर ) संरक्षण के लिए सहयोग  किया गया था।

An innovative student who inspired the world with her solar ironing cart is currently India's baton bearer for the 16th official Queen's Baton Relay.
Ms. Vinisha Umashankar, an innovative student from Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu, who has become an environmentalist, has been selected as the "Changemaker" and baton holder for the 16th Official Queen's Baton Relay (12 - 15 January 2022) going on in India from tomorrow. . Ms. Vinisha, a young innovator and environmentalist, has been an inspiration to many, and she also deserves to be chosen as a baton-bearer.

The 16th official Queen's Baton Relay began on 7 October 2021 at Buckingham Palace in London and will conclude on 28 July 2022 at the opening ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games after visiting 72 countries and territories of the Commonwealth for 294 days. The Queen's Baton Relay will continue to operate in India from January 12 to 15, 2022, with the arrival of this baton in India, the 27th nation in the route scheduled for this period.

Ms. Vinisha Umashankar received the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Ignite (IGNITE) award instituted by National Innovation Foundation (NIF) India, an autonomous body of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, for her mobile solar ironing cart, which is powered by its steam Iron uses solar panels for the box. This innovation has become an inspiration to the world after his speech at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference on Climate Change in Glasgow, Scotland in 2021.

Ms. Vinisha's success today demonstrates the importance of an institutional support mechanism and a conducive ecosystem for innovators. Following the award, the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) was instrumental in advancing prototype development and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection for Vinisha's innovation. NIF is also committed to improve the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of its innovation in partnership with the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).

One of the major benefits of Vinisha's Solar Ironing Cart is that it eliminates the need for coal in its ironing, making for a welcome change towards clean energy. Its end-users can carry it around and offer their services from door to door to increase their daily earnings. The ironing cart can also be fitted with a USB charging point and a coin operated GSM PCO with mobile recharging, providing additional income. It is a simple solar-powered alternative to the millions of cars running charcoal burning in conventional iron irons to iron clothes and can benefit workers and their families. The device can also be powered with a pre-charged battery and an electric or diesel powered generator in the absence of sunlight.
