ICC Women's WC, India Squad: Team India has been announced for the ICC Women's World Cup. The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) on Thursday announced the 15-man squad. Players like Jhulan Goswami, Harmanpreet Kaur have been included in the team led by Mithali Raj. This is going to be the last World Cup of Mithali and Jhulan, in such a situation, they would like to end their golden journey by winning the World Cup for the first time in India.

Before the start of the World Cup, Mithali Raj's team will also participate in a 5-match ODI series against New Zealand starting on February 11, 2022. Team India will play its first World Cup match against Pakistan in Tauranga on 6 March.

World Cup being held in New Zealand

Only 8 teams are participating in the Women's World Cup 2022. A total of 31 matches will be played in this World Cup including the final. The tournament will also run for a total of 31 days. All matches will be played at 6 venues only. These venues will be Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Wellington. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format. All the teams will
play one match against each other. The top 4 teams will be in the semi-finals. Reserve day has been kept for semi-finals and final. The final match will be held in Christchurch.

Team India, Australia, England, and South Africa got a direct entry for the tournament. All four got this entry under the ICC Women's Championship 2017-20, while New Zealand was included directly as hosts. At the same time, the remaining three teams Pakistan, Bangladesh, and West Indies made their place through the World Cup qualifiers.

This is the 12th edition of the ICC Women's World Cup. For the first time, this World Cup was played in 1973. The Indian team had so far reached the finals in the 2005 and 2017 World Cups, but could not win the title. Mithali Raj was leading the Indian team on both occasions. In the last World Cup of 2017, he was defeated by the English team in a thrilling match and broke the dream of winning the title.

Apart from this, the All India Women's Selection Committee also selected the team for the one-off T20 against New Zealand to be played on 9 February 2022.
