Navi Mumbai In a bold move, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) today staged a "Handa Morcha" at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) to protest against the ongoing water crisis in the Rahul Nagar locality of CBD, Parsik Hill. The residents of this area have been grappling with severe water shortages for the past two years.

Fifteen days ago, MNS had submitted a memorandum to the municipal corporation, demanding a resolution to the water crisis within seven days. Despite assurances from officials, the issue remains unresolved, leading to growing frustration among the residents.

Under the leadership of MNS City President Gajanan Kale, the party organized a "Handa Morcha" today, where a large number of women and men participated, carrying water pots as a symbol of their plight. The protest was initially blocked by security personnel and police at the entrance of the municipal headquarters. However, the sheer number of protesters forced additional City Engineer Arvind Shinde to address the situation personally.

After discussions with MNS City Secretary Sachin Kadam, Shinde ordered Executive Engineer Shankar Jadhav to conduct an immediate inspection and implement a permanent solution to the water crisis. Following the inspection, it was announced that a new 2-inch pipeline would be installed to resolve the issue permanently.

MNS has warned that if the water crisis is not resolved within the next 10 days, they will escalate the protest by storming the commissioner's office. The protest saw the participation of key MNS leaders, including Division President Bhushan Koli, Deputy Division President Vinod Landge, Deputy Division President Santosh Tekawde, Maharashtra Sainiks, and a large number of local residents.
