The term of Shaktikanta Das was ending on 10 December 2021. According to an official statement, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has extended the reappointment of Shaktikanta Das as the Governor of Reserve Bank of India for a period of three years with effect from 10.12.2021 or until further orders.

Who is Shaktikanta Das?

He is an IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre. During his tenure as the Union Economic Affairs Secretary, Shaktikanta Das was considered one of the most powerful men in India.
