UP: Most tainted and Dhannaseth are BJP MLAs, Election watch, and ADR report

After analyzing the affidavits filed by the sitting MLAs in the 2017 assembly elections and by-elections, ADR has released a report. According to this report, 35 percent of the MLAs in the current assembly have criminal cases registered against them, including the maximum number of 106 BJP MLAs.

As the assembly elections gear up in Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have started scrutinizing the details of politicians' assets, cases filed against them, and their education.

ADR, which keeps an eye on the election system and leaders in a democratic way, has put forth the complete horoscope of the MLAs of the current assembly, before the Uttar Pradesh elections. After analyzing the affidavits filed by the sitting MLAs in the 2017 assembly elections and by-elections, ADR has released a report. According to this report, 35 percent of the MLAs in the current assembly have criminal cases registered against them, including the maximum number of 106 BJP MLAs. Not only this, along with MLAs of the criminal image, crorepati MLAs are also in BJP the most.

ADR surveyed 396 MLAs out of 403 MLAs

UP Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms have analyzed the financial, criminal, and other details of 396 MLAs of 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. There are 7 vacant seats in the assembly. ADR has released the report after analyzing the affidavit filed while presenting the candidature during the elections in 2017.

Criminal cases registered against 35% MLAs of Uttar Pradesh

The ADR survey found that 140, that is, 35 percent of the MLAs in UP have criminal cases registered against them. Out of these 140 MLAs, there are 106 MLAs who have serious criminal cases registered against them like murder, robbery, dacoity, and riots. Talking about the party-wise tainted MLAs, 106 out of 304 MLAs of BJP, 18 out of 49 of SP, 2 out of 18 of BSP, and 1 MLA of Congress have criminal cases registered against them.

79% MLAs of Uttar Pradesh are crorepatis

Talking about the status of our MLAs in the current assembly, then out of the total 396 MLAs, 313 i.e. 79 percent of MLAs are crorepatis. The maximum number of crorepati MLAs is in BJP. The report shows that BJP 235, SP 42, BSP 15 and Congress 5 MLAs are crorepatis.

The average assets of each MLA are 5.85 crores. As per the party-wise average assets of MLAs, the average assets of BJP MLAs are 5.04 crores. The average assets of 49 Samajwadi Party MLAs are 6.07 crores, the average assets of 16 BSP MLAs are 19.27 crores, and the average assets of 7 Congress MLAs are 10.06 crores.

Richest MLA of Uttar Pradesh

Now if we talk about the richest MLA, then BSP's Mubarakpur MLA Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali has assets worth more than 118 crores. At number two, BSP's Chullu Par MLA Vinay Shankar Tiwari has assets worth more than 67 crores, and at number three, Rani Pakshalika Singh, MLA from Bah assembly, has assets worth more than 58 crores.

Liability of more than 1 crore on 49 MLAs

Along with the assets, the liabilities on the sitting MLAs were also not less. The report found that 49 MLAs had liabilities of more than one crore, including 26 crores on minister Nand Gopal Nandi in the Uttar Pradesh government, 11 crores on Om Kumar, MLA from Nechatur assembly, 9 crores on Allahabad Western assembly MLA Siddharth Nath Singh.

The ADR report also analyzed the education of our MLAs. According to the report, out of the total 396 MLAs, 95 are from class VIII to XII. 290 MLAs are graduates, 4 MLAs are literate, 5 MLAs are diploma holders.
