Cooking oil: Do not spoil the budget of Diwali, the inflation of edible oil, Modi government became active

The price of cooking oil in the country had reached the sky in the last few months, after which the government, showing some activity, imposed a stock limit. Now the prices should be under control during the festive season, so today ie on Monday, the central government has an important meeting with the states.

Significantly, on October 10, the central government had imposed stock limits on traders of edible oils and oilseeds till March 31, except for some importers and exporters, to control domestic prices and provide relief to consumers. Will hold a virtual meeting with the states to review the action taken on the stock holding limit order.

What is the stock limit?

Under the stock limit, the state governments and union territories had to fix the stock limit on edible oils and oilseeds keeping in mind the available stock and consumption pattern of their state or union territory.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) took action on the stock limit order on food prices on October 25, 2021, through video conferencing with all States/UTs will meet to review.

Demand increases on festivals

The ministry says that the demand for edible oils increases significantly during festivals, so such a meeting is important. Prior to this, the Center has taken several steps to reduce the high prices, including a major cut in the import duty of palm oil, sunflower oil, and soybean oil.
