After all, why should IAS, IPS and officers sitting in high positions work honestly? Will today's politics and corrupt system allow him to do his job? The story of the ruined life of former Deputy SP Shailendra Singh

Know how Mulayam Singh government ruined the life of former Deputy SP Shailendra Singh as he had put POTA against Mukhtar Ansar.

After all, why should IAS, IPS and officers sitting in high positions work honestly? Will today's politics and corrupt system allow him to do his job? The story of the ruined life of former Deputy SP Shailendra Singh

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has withdrawn a 17-year-old case against a former deputy SP Shailendra Singh in Varanasi. The former police have been shunned by a fake case of vandalism filed against it after it fell to the then ruling Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh in 2004.

Shailendra Singh was falsely implicated in recommending the arrest of the mafia don to Mafia don politician Mukhtar Ansari after a Light Machine Gun (LMG) was recovered from the premises of the dreaded gangster.

'I and my family will remain indebted to the Chief Minister for this gesture'
CJM Varanasi has ordered to withdraw the case against former Deputy SP Shailendra Singh. Reacting to the verdict, the ex-DYSP tweeted thanking Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for withdrawing the fake cases against him. “I just got a copy of the court order today. I thank Yogi Adityanath ji from the bottom of my heart and will be indebted to him for the rest of my life.

In a video that had surfaced online, the tearful former police officer told the media that "A criminal case was registered against me in Varanasi and I was put in jail. However, when Yogi Adityanath came to power, he initiated the process to withdraw the case. I have received a copy of the court order and my family and I will remain indebted to the Chief Minister for this gesture.

Singh fills his eyes as he remembers the 17 years of torture on him and his family by the then ruling SP government.
Shailendra Singh recalls how his career was ruined and dozens of allegations were leveled against him by the then ruling Samajwadi Party for taking action against the mafia don.
Heaving a sigh of relief, the former DSP said he was glad that the truth finally prevailed. He claimed that the criminal case filed against him was nothing but a strategy of the then ruling party to silence him. He told the media persons that his life was ruined because of this criminal case. He was also unable to obtain a passport or arms license, as many officials work for the Samajwadi Party.

what is the matter

In 2004, Shailendra Singh was in charge of the Varanasi unit of the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh. The DYSP had raided Mukhtar Ansari's hideouts in January 2004 and banned LMGs (light machine guns) just before killing BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai and six others. The DySP then registered an FIR and slapped the mafia don

The DYSP held a phone conversation in which Mukhtar Ansari was allegedly trying to buy LMG from a fugitive soldier named Babu Lal Yadav. Shailendra Singh conducted the raid based on the information gathered and recovered the LMG and 200 live cartridges. Babu Lal Yadav, who was serving as Mukhtar Ansari's gunner, and his uncle Munar Yadav were arrested on the spot.

Following this, the Mulayam Singh government, which was then at the helm of affairs in Uttar Pradesh, began pressuring the former police to withdraw the case or remove Mukhtar Ansari's name from the POTA case. However, Shailendra Singh refused to bow to pressure and resigned from his post as DySP in February 2004.

A few months after his resignation, the then SP government implicated the officer in fake cases and put him behind the bars. Fighting all odds, Singh came out on bail and joined the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh.

Till the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government came to power, Shailendra Singh fought against the establishment to prove his innocence and filed an application in the court to withdraw the case against Shailendra Singh.

Soon after Yogi Adityanath came to power, the UP government filed a petition in the court in December 2017 to withdraw the cases against Singh.

On 6 March 2021, the court finally allowed the state government's plea to withdraw the cases against the former DySP.

The illegal empire built by mafia don Mukhtar Ansari is now in a shambles. Not only did the Yogi government demolish his illegal properties and crack down on his associates, he has now won the Supreme Court case against the Punjab government for bringing the mafia leader to face justice in UP.
