Mumbai : Prohibited Vimal Gutkha and Tobacco Seized from Brezza Car at Bhira Fata

Mumbai, 22.07.2024 – On the night of 20/7/24 at 9:30 PM, during a routine patrol, police intercepted a Brezza car (registration number MH-12 MW 7173) at Bhira Fata on the road leading from Bhira Fata to Ville. Inside the vehicle, prohibited Vimal Gutkha and Vimal Pan Masala worth Rs. 1,88,320 were found being transported towards Kolad. The driver, Ajay Ukharam Chaudhary (age 29), a native of Sojat, Pali district, Rajasthan, currently residing in Khed Shivapur, Pune, was arrested.
A case has been registered against Ajay Chaudhary at Kolad Police Station under case number 65/2024. He has been charged under Indian Penal Code sections 123, 223, 274, 275, 3(5), and sections 30(2)(a), 31(1), 26(2)(i), 26(2)(iv) of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, and sections 2, 3, and 4 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations 2011.
The case was filed on 21/7/24 at 1:46 AM. A total of Rs. 10,18,320 worth of goods, including the Brezza car and the prohibited Vimal Gutkha and tobacco, were seized.
The case was filed based on information provided by Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Naresh Patil. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Shri Chaudhary from Kolad Police Station.
