Turbhe Division Under Cloud of Corruption? Unauthorized Buildings Resurrected After Demolition, CIDCO and Municipal Officials Under Suspicion

Navi Mumbai 21.09.2024 – The Turbhe Division Office is facing serious allegations of corruption and negligence as unauthorized constructions that were demolished just days ago are being rebuilt at a rapid pace. Despite numerous reports through social media and local news outlets, Assistant Commissioner Bharat Dhande remains silent, leading to growing suspicion about his role in the matter. The quick resurgence of these demolished buildings has sparked rumors of large-scale settlements between builders and officials.

Rampant Unauthorized Construction Resumes

Several buildings in the Turbhe Division, which were previously demolished by the authorities for being unauthorized, are now being swiftly rebuilt. Despite full knowledge of this illegal activity, the Turbhe Division Office has remained inactive, with no further action taken. Instead, there seems to be an unspoken agenda to allow the construction to continue, leaving many to wonder about the quality and safety of these buildings.

The risk of a tragic incident, similar to the collapse in Belapur, looms large. Hundreds of citizens are being put at risk as substandard buildings continue to rise, while officials turn a blind eye. There is a growing belief that the officials' only concern is the influence and money they receive from developers, while the safety and lives of the public take a backseat.

Allegations of Collusion and Settlements Turbhe Division Under Cloud of Corruption ?

In a recent case in Sanpada, CIDCO officials took swift action after noticing unauthorized construction in the village. During an inspection on April 30, 2024, officials identified an illegal R.C.C. (G+2) building on survey numbers 1 and 54 belonging to Hemant Vishnu Madhavi. Despite issuing a notice on May 8, 2024, and demolishing the building soon after, construction resumed just a few days later.

Rumors of a settlement between the builder and CIDCO officials started circulating in the area. After public outcry, CIDCO once again demolished the structure. However, construction began yet again, raising questions about the effectiveness of these demolitions and the integrity of the officials involved.

Attempts to contact Bharat Dhande, the Turbhe Division Officer, have been unsuccessful, further fueling suspicions that the municipal office may be complicit in allowing these illegal constructions to continue.

Navi Mumbai Facing a Surge in Unauthorized Buildings

Navi Mumbai is witnessing a rapid increase in unauthorized construction, and it appears that local authorities are either unable or unwilling to control the situation. CIDCO has been issuing notices and conducting demolition drives across the city, but many fear that these actions are mere formalities, meant to create the illusion of enforcement while turning a blind eye to deeper corruption.

Unauthorized structures, illegal hoardings, and unlicensed bars and pubs are not only damaging the city’s landscape but also putting the lives of citizens at risk. Several incidents in recent years have claimed lives and destroyed livelihoods, yet the authorities only react after a disaster has occurred.

Public Outcry and Call for Accountability

As more and more unauthorized buildings rise, the public is growing increasingly frustrated with the inaction of municipal authorities. The combination of delayed action and suspected bribery is leading many to lose faith in the system. Without strict enforcement and accountability, more citizens could be displaced or even lose their lives in poorly constructed buildings.

The situation in Turbhe, Sanpada, and other parts of Navi Mumbai calls for an urgent investigation into the roles of both municipal and CIDCO officials. Until then, the public can only wait, hoping that it doesn't take another disaster to wake up the system.
